Daemen University hosted its 22nd Annual Scholars Day on Saturday, February 7, giving top-performing prospective students a glimpse into campus life, academics, and an opportunity to vie for eight Trustee Scholarships.
More than 200 students who were nominated attended Scholars Day to interview for their chance to receive one of two full-tuition scholarships or six $24,000 scholarships.
Daemen President Gary A. Olson and Vice President for Strategic Initiatives Dr. Mimi Steadman welcomed students and their families. Trustee Scholar alum Sarah Rodman, Esq., ‘13 and current Trustee Scholars Lauren Bell ’25, ’26 and Haylee Thornley ‘25, ‘27 also addressed attendees to share their personal Daemen experiences.
Students were interviewed by volunteers, including faculty, administrators, Daemen alums, and high school guidance counselors from the Western New York region, and will be evaluated by the Scholars Day committee.
“Scholars Day is a pivotal moment for these promising students whose nominations signify their immense potential,” said Yolanda Morris, senior director for enrollment events and experience. “This is a great opportunity for them to get a feel for the Daemen community, the supportive faculty and staff, and the university’s commitment to academic excellence.”
“This is an exciting day for Daemen as we have the privilege of interviewing such dedicated, talented students,” said Megan Beardi, director of undergraduate admissions. “We are incredibly proud to welcome them all to campus and are hopeful they’ll be returning this fall.”
Students will be notified about the scholarships later this month. Dr. Olson will personally call the eight Trustee Scholarship recipients.
