The Daemen University Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Lisa Parshall, distinguished proWoman with shoulder-length blonde hair wearing a navy jacket in front of a gray backdropfessor of political science, to the board as the faculty representative, effective immediately. She fills the position recently vacated by Dr. Michael Ross, who retired from the university in July.

Dr. Parshall specializes in American politics, public law, and public policy. She is a Fullbright Specialist with research interest in municipal development and reorganization in New York State. She also serves as a Policy Fellow at the Rockefeller Institute of Government in Albany. Parshall is the author of many publications, most recently a co-edited collection titled Governing New York State Through Crises published by SUNY Press.

For many years Dr. Parshall has played a leadership role at Daemen University. In 2023, she was promoted to the rank of Distinguished Professor, the highest professorial rank awarded to faculty. She has held the positions of President and Vice President of the Faculty Senate and has served on various university-wide committees. Dr. Parshall led the efforts for the institution’s most recent Middle States accreditation and was a Co-Chair of Daemen’s 2025-2030 Strategic Plan.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Parshall serve on the Board of Trustees,” said John Yurtchuk,
Chairman of the Board. “She is known as a judicious and collegial member of the faculty who
will bring insight and fresh ideas to the board.”
