Hamish Dalley
Dr. Hamish Dalley is an assistant professor of English at Daemen College and teaches in the areas of ancient and modern world literature, contemporary literatures from South Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean, first-year writing and literature, and postcolonial studies. He also serves on the college’s Council for Diversity and Inclusion and the Global Education Task Force.
Most recently, he was one of a select group of faculty members nationwide chosen by the Council of Independent Colleges and Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies to participate in a classics seminar, “Traveling With Pausanias Through Greece.” The seminar will be held this summer at the Center for Hellenic Studies location in Nafplio, Greece.
Before joining Daemen’s faculty, Dalley taught in Australian National University’s Academic Skills and Learning Centre, and he was an ESL teacher in Japan.
Dalley’s research focuses on the contemporary global and postcolonial novel, with an emphasis on literary and historical realism in formerly colonized societies. His publications have included a book and articles, and he is currently working on a chapter for “Cambridge History of World Literature.”
Originally from New Zealand, Dalley resides in Buffalo.
