Harry Wilson, founder and CEO of MAEVA Group, LLC, and a nationally recognized expert on corporate turnarounds, will be the featured speaker at the next Daemen College Distinguished Leaders Lecture Series event taking place at noon Oct. 14.
The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the MusicalFare Cabaret located on Daemen’s campus at 4380 Main street., Amherst.
Wilson, who has devoted much of his career to turning around troubled companies, will provide insight on strategies for successful corporate turnarounds and leading businesses through operational and financial transitions. He will also discuss his work in public service, including his senior role on the U.S. Auto Task Force, where on behalf of the U.S. Treasury he led the restructuring of General Motors, the largest successful industrial turnaround in American history.
Wilson spent his early career as an investor at some of the nation’s top financial firms. In 2011, he founded the MAEVA Group, a firm that focuses on investing and leading corporate transformations, restructurings, and strategic transitions.
A Republican nominee in 2010 for New York State comptroller, Wilson received nearly 2.1 million votes – more than any GOP statewide challenger since George Pataki and Dennis Vacco in 1994 – and the endorsement of almost every major newspaper in the state, including The Buffalo News.
Wilson earned an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard University.
The Daemen Distinguished Leaders Lecture Series brings top government and public officials and business leaders to campus to share their unique perspective on critical state, national and international issues. It is sponsored by Harris Beach PLLC, a major New York-based law firm with offices in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Ithaca, White Plains, New York City and Long Island.
