Daemen University rang in its annual Founders Celebration with the ceremonial ringing of Founders Bell on September 24.

Seven distinguished members of the Daemen community—Jo-Anne Grabowski ‘73, representing the Sisters of St. Francis who founded the college; John Yurtchuk, Chairman of Daemen’s Board of Trustees; Catherine LePage-Campbell, ‘84, representing alums; Joseph Sankoh Jr., representing students; Dr. Jay Wendland, Faculty Senate President; Dr. Andrew Wise, representing the Faculty Emeriti; and Dr. Mimi Steadman, representing senior leadership on behalf of Dr. Olson—rang the bell to commemorate the university’s 79 years of academic excellence.

The bell-ringing ceremony opened with remarks from Dr. Michael Brogan, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, who said, “I have been a member of Daemen for 45 years, first as a student, then as a proud alum, then as a member of our first-rate faculty, and now as an administrator, and I could not be more proud of this great college than I am today.”
Additional students, faculty, and staff also joined in on the celebration by ringing Founders Bell.

Founders Celebration festivities continued all week, including photo and door decorating contests, complimentary shuttles to local shops and restaurants, and campus events throughout the weekend for students, alumni, family, and the Daemen community.
