Daemen alum and trustee, Hon. Lynn Marinelli ‘85, delivered the inaugural address to students, faculty, staff, and community members during the Community Impact Speaker Series on October 7.
She was introduced by Gracelynn Bishop, a fourth-year military-aligned student who will graduate with a B.A. in Political Science in 2027.
Marinelli’s presentation, “Good Neighbors, Homegrown Impact—Reflections on a Lifetime of Public Service and Regional Economic Impact in the Western New York Community,” was an interactive session with six guiding questions focused on attendees’ perceptions of community strengths and opportunities and how they could make an impact.
Marinelli, who lives by the mantra, “carpe diem” (“seize the day,” relish the moment), inspired participants to take action and make an impact in their communities.
“We were so pleased that the Hon. Lynn Marinelli fulfilled her intent to connect with, engage, and inspire the audience,” said Elizabeth Wright and Susan Marchione, co-directors, Paul A. Saffrin Center for Community Engagement. “It was wonderful to hear administrators, faculty, students, alumni, and community members share their thoughts on creating a community impact, and advancing the mission of Daemen University.”
