Daemen won three Excalibur Awards from the Buffalo Niagara chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)—the best-ever showing for the college in the annual contest.
Taking home an award for the internal communications campaign, “Daemen Forum | A Panel Series,” was Tom Wojciechowski, executive director of web communications; Cameron Garrity, graphic designer; and Kathryn Hammer, director of alumni relations.
“Our panel series started during the pandemic as a way for Daemen to connect alumni, community, faculty and students virtually—to gather together and discuss meaningful issues with experts,” said Hammer. “It’s an honor to be recognized for such a cross-disciplinary project involving advancement, academics, admissions, and technology divisions at the college.”
Former Director of Institutional Communication Paula Witherell, who passed away in December 2020, won a pair of awards:
- Gold Award – Media Relations Boosting Daemen’s Visibility
- Bronze Award – Press Conference for 1 Million Trees: Daemen Partners with Townto Announce Major Initiative
The awards span multiple divisions at the college, with Hammer, Garrity and Witherell part of Institutional Advancement and Wojciechowski from Technology Services.
Among higher education entities, Daemen ranked second regionally (only to the University at Buffalo) in the number of awards won.
