Cleon Clayton earned a master’s degree in athletic training and a bachelor’s degree in health care studies with a minor in biology, both from Daemen College. He is currently an athletic trainer for the Dunkirk City and Silver Creek Central School Districts and at Lakeshore Orthopedic Group under the Brooks Sports Medicine program. He also works on a per diem basis at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s Sports Medicine Program.
In his athletic trainer role in Dunkirk and Silver Creek, Clayton was featured in an Observer Today news story about the school districts sharing an athletic trainer. He was also instrumental in obtaining two athletic training grants in support of AT efforts in the Silver Creek District.
“Daemen’s faculty to studio ratio created the perfect learning environment,” said Clayton, who participated in various student clubs, and enjoyed DJing at college events and playing soccer. “The athletic training program was especially supportive and the clinical education opportunities allowed me to gain professional experience that has been valuable to me in the field.”
