“Up until this point, a student had to be physically present in the classroom,” said Margaret Phillips, the director of Daemen Paralegal Studies program. “We can now allow students to Zoom into our classes for the entirety of the Certificate.”

The seven-course program will begin in the Spring 2024 semester and can be finished in as little as a year. In order to enroll, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree.

Classes are taught by practicing attorneys and are offered at night in order to accommodate
various scheduling needs. Students are required to take one asynchronous law office
technology course and also have the opportunity to participate in an internship at a law office.

“What I love about directing the Paralegal Studies program is not only watching students
successfully launch their legal career but also seeing the empowerment that comes from
understanding the legal system and from developing the critical thinking skills necessary to work
in the law,” Phillips added.

Over 95% of the graduates from Daemen’s Paralegal Studies Program are employed or go on
to law school. The program is approved by the American Bar Association, the leading national
legal organization that accredits law schools.
