AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen University further solidified its ongoing relationship with Team IMPACT, a non-profit organization that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, with the creation of Daemen's Team IMPACT Wall of Fame.

The Team IMPACT Wall of Fame was officially unveiled with a ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon following Daemen's East Coast Conference (ECC) women's volleyball match against St. Thomas Aquinas College.

The display, which sits at the entrance of Lumsden Gymnasium, features photos of current Team IMPACT matches and a history of previous matches. Daemen currently has four teams matched with a child (women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country/track, men's soccer and women's basketball) and boasts six Team IMPACT alumni.

The Team IMPACT Wall of Fame was the brainchild of two student-athletes - Marina Maerkl and Maggie Burns - who played a pivotal role in Daemen being awarded as the Team IMPACT NCAA Division II Campus of the Year in 2022-23. Daemen and Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. are believed to be the only two schools nationwide to have a Team IMPACT Wall of Fame. The project was made possible through an ongoing partnership with Tompkins Bank which continues to support Daemen's work with Team IMPACT.

The ECC entered into a partnership with Team IMPACT in the Fall of 2013 and Daemen has been working with the organization since 2014. Daemen entered into a formal partnership with Team IMPACT in the summer of 2021.
