From original paintings, puppets and ceramics – to collages, illustrations and video installations, a new exhibition of Daemen faculty artwork has taken shape at the Tower Gallery.
A college tradition that stretches back decades, the VPA Faculty Exhibit is on display through Jan. 21, 2022.
An opening reception will be held Thursday, Dec. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Tower Gallery. All are welcome to attend.
“Faculty are working, practicing artists in their field, creating original works, in addition to teaching,” said Brian Hammer ’02, an assistant professor of art history at Daemen and coordinator of the college’s galleries.
Hammer added, “It’s great for students to see their professors’ skills and visions come to life.”
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Elizabeth C. and Peter Tower Gallery is located in the Haberman Gacioch Arts Center, next to the Research and Information Commons (RIC).
The annual fall semester show returns to campus after a hiatus in 2020.
“It’s nice to see work up again, welcome guests back to the gallery and for them to have the experience of seeing art in-person again,” said Hammer, “and to get back to some sort of normalcy.”
After the faculty-based show closes, the gallery will host separate exhibitions of works by local high school students, undergraduates, and Daemen seniors.
