Daemen University Career Services hosted its fall semester Career Closet Pop-Up Shop on November 4, which featured a wide array of gently used business attire for students to browse for their personal and professional needs.
Over 150 students attended the event.
Clothing from the Career Closet was on display in a retail-like setting in Daemen’s Alumni Lounge where students had the opportunity to choose a complete outfit to keep, at no cost to them.
“We look forward to our Pop-Up Shop events every year,” said Lamark Shaw, Director of Career Services at Daemen. “Our Career Closet is a unique resource for students, and we are excited to help them find outfits that boost their confidence so they can stay focused on important interviews, presentations, or events.”
Career Services hosts two Pop-Up Shops each year: the first in the fall as part of Career Week and the second in the spring in preparation for the Career & Internship Expo.
To date, 837 students have visited the Career Closet since its inception in February 2022.
Gently used clothing, including blazers, suits, dress pants, button-down or polo shirts, belts, ties, skirts, dress sweaters, dresses, and blouses are accepted throughout the year. Donations can be dropped off at the Career Services office in the John R. Yurtchuk Student Center, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
“We are overwhelmed by the ongoing support we’ve received for the Career Closet,” Said Shaw. “The community’s generosity enables us to outfit students for success.”
