Daemen’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) hosted the 2025 Fall Faculty Scholarship Symposium on Monday, Nov. 17, in the Yurtchuk Student Center Alumni Lounge.
The symposium, co-organized by the Director of the CETL Dr. Hella Jacob and Faculty Development Director Dr. Kat Miller-Procknal and emceed by CETL Advisory Board member Dr. Vanessa Patrone, featured five faculty members representing the three colleges and diverse disciplines.
Scott Bieler College of Health Professions Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy, Kira Eimiller, PT, DPT, EdD, Cert. MDT, OCS, summarized research on The Core of the Issue: Plank Time that was published earlier this year in the Journal of Clinical Medicine.
College of Arts, Sciences, and Education Assistant Professor of Practice in Art & Education Heather Putney, MSEd, presented a proposed study of Teaching Critical Literacy Skills Through Art in Elementary Classrooms. Associate Professor of Biology Domenic D’Amore, PhD, shared his fieldwork experience in how Temporal Muscle Orientation Correlates With Tooth Loss in Paravian Dinosaurs and Birds. D’Amore just returned from Birmingham, England where he presented a research poster on his research with former student, Charsie Yox ‘24 at the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology Annual Meeting.
College of Health, Human Sciences, and Business Assistant Professor of Business Administration Stacy Roland, DBA, MBA, discussed her recent dissertation: The Influence of Pro-White Bias on the Leadership Self-Efficacy of Minority College Students. Assistant Professor of Social Work Kat Miller-Procknal, DSW, also shared insight from her recent dissertation: Analyzing Tenure through a Critical Race Theory (CRT) Perspective.
“The symposium is a wonderful opportunity to spotlight the talent, dedication, and expertise of our faculty to inform the Daemen community,” said Jacob. Miller-Procknal added, “It’s wonderful to learn about each other’s research,” while Patrone shared, “We all leave more inspired and with new perspectives.”
The CETL will host another faculty symposium during the spring semester.
