In recognition of the end of the academic year, President Gary Olson congratulated the college community on their perseverance and accomplishments in a short video message.

“This year has been anything but ordinary, but despite its challenges, we have made it through,” said Olson. “The pandemic put a stop to many of our typical traditions, but, thanks to the creative and collaborative nature of the Daemen family, we managed to make the most out of what was a trying year.”

Olson recounted many of the highlights from the 2020-21 year, including the unprecedented success achieved by Wildcats athletic teams, the most successful Daemen Day of Giving in the college’s history, the numerous panels and summits held with leading thinkers and scholars, as well as the completion of several campus-wide projects.

“All of this happened during a global pandemic that tested the strength and stability of higher education like nothing before,” said Olson. “It didn’t stop our dedicated staff from providing a first-rate college experience. It didn’t stop our talented faculty from delivering a first-rate academic experience.”

Concluding by offering congratulations to all who contributed to the college’s achievement and continued momentum over the last 12 months, Olson also took the opportunity to look ahead.

“I hope you have a restful and enjoyable summer, and I look forward to brighter days ahead and a normal academic year beginning in the fall,” said Olson. “Have a good summer.”
