To continue an annual commencement week tradition, this year’s graduate reception for the Daemen College Class of 2020 doctorate of physical therapy graduates was moved to an online celebration held via Zoom.
At the virtual event, 57 DPT graduating students were honored by physical therapy faculty, staff, family, and friends. President Gary Olson and Dr. Michael Brogan, senior vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, also joined in the online celebration on May 14.
“This annual reception recognizes the hard work and deep commitment that our DPT students put into their professional program,” said Dr. Greg Ford, chair of physical therapy. “Even in the midst of physical separation, we were able to connect in a meaningful way to celebrate the excellence of our students and to congratulate them on their graduation.”
Commending the DPT graduates for completing their studies during this unprecedented time, Ford added: “The physical therapy program and our students worked together in a nimble fashion to ensure that all clinical education requirements were met for graduation given the challenges due to COVID-19. We are also very proud of our historic high job placement rate, and the Class of 2020 is no exception. Many of our graduates are already employed with some continuing their education in physical therapy residency programs.”
