Daemen College student Justin Losowski has won second place in the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association District 2 Student Quiz Bowl competition held at the district convention, making him eligible to advance to the national competition.

Losowski competed in the athletic training quiz bowl against students representing 17 colleges and universities from throughout EATA District II, including Delaware, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. With this second place win, he moves on to the National Student Quiz Bowl taking place in June at the 71st annual National Athletic Trainer’s Association Symposia in Atlanta. He will be joined by first and second place winners from District 2 and winners from other districts from across the country.

Front row (L-R): Alycia Meek, Andrew Brush, Kristen Schlabach, and Jessica Baun. Back row: Taylor Miller, Mark Maruszewski, Justin Losowski, and Griffin Spatorico.

“Justin was selected to represent Daemen in the quiz bowl because of his extensive knowledge on athletic training, and we had complete confidence in his abilities to do well in the competition,” said Dr. Rebecca Begalle, athletic training department chair/program director and assistant professor. “His success in the quiz bowl is a reflection of the time he has put into his clinical and academic pursuits and speaks to the quality of our program to prepare students as highly qualified athletic training professionals.”

Losowski, who has earned a 3.94 GPA, will graduate with a master’s degree in athletic training in May. A Rome resident, he serves as secretary of the Daemen Athletic Training Student Association.

Other Daemen students who attended the NATA District 2 Convention were Jessica Baun ‘21 of Flat Rock, N.C.; Andrew Brush ‘21 of Massena; Mark Maruszewski ’21 of Otego; Alycia Meek ‘21 of Lake View; Taylor Miller ‘20 of Williamsville; Kristen Schlabach ’20 of Kileen, Texas; and Griffin Spatorico ‘20 of North Tonawanda.
