Record Attendance at Scholars Day

Scholar's Day logoWhile undergraduate enrollment is still down across the country in higher education, Daemen experienced record high attendance at its March 1-6 Scholars Week event, indicating heavy interest from prospective students. The admissions team reported 252 attendees, an increase of 37 percent in comparison to the 2020 Scholars Day event.

Transformed this year to accommodate COVID-19 protocols, this event’s increase in numbers is a reflection of Daemen’s strong reputation in Western New York and beyond, and a desire for students to build their legacy through a Daemen education.

Every student who applies for admission is also considered for a merit scholarship. There are ten Trustee Scholarship recipients each year in the categories of full tuition, $17,000 and $15,000. Additional scholarships through the Advancement office are also given out through Scholars Day.

“Despite a global pandemic and uncertainty everywhere, prospective students see Daemen as the place that will enable them to achieve their dreams,” said Dr. Greg Nayor, vice president for strategic initiatives. “The increase in Scholar’s Week attendees is a reflection of that.”

Scholarship winners will find out if they received one of these lucrative awards in mid-to-late March, in time to commit before May 1.
