For the 14th year in a row, Daemen University has been recognized as a 2023-24 Military Friendly School – a designation indicating institutional support for veterans to help them transition from military life to college and onto successful careers.
The national veteran-run organization awarding the designation – Military Friendly – uses a number of criteria to bestow the honor, including data on student retention, graduation rate, job placement and more.
“Daemen is proud to once again be recognized among the best Military Friendly Schools in the nation,” said Daemen President Gary Olson. “We are committed to providing exceptional resources and opportunities for our student veterans to ensure they are supported and well positioned for academic and career success.”
Mark Martinez, Director of Veteran Services at Daemen University, takes great pride in the institution’s receipt of this recognition. “As a veteran, I have always had a personal enthusiasm in supporting our nation’s veterans and military affiliated personnel. At Daemen University, we are passionate about advocating for support services beyond that of a higher education for our veteran and military affiliated students and we aim to exceed the standards of service in WNY.”
Veteran Services is under the auspices of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Daemen. Chief Diversity Officer Tiffany Hamilton echoed the enthusiasm for this recognition. “At Daemen, those that have served to protect our nation are given a safe place to live and learn,” Hamilton explained. “This is an important acknowledgment, one that affirms our commitment to serving our military community.”
The latest Military Friendly Schools list will be published in the Spring issue of G.I. Jobs magazine.
