Campus Aerial Photo Rosary Hall 2020In a recent letter to the campus community, Daemen President Gary Olson highlighted the extensive progress that has been made to safely reopen campus in preparation for fall classes.

President Olson noted that Daemen’s detailed reopening plan containing a number of protocols and guidelines to protect the health and well-being of students, faculty, and staff has been submitted to New York State.

“Daemen’s Emergency Response Team, which has led our COVID-19 response since the pandemic began, has worked tirelessly to develop this exceptional in-depth reopening plan, which goes above and beyond what is required by New York State,” said President Olson. “While we understand there will be an adjustment to the ‘new normal’ when you return to campus, your commitment to abiding to our health and safety guidelines will be key to ensuring the success of our institutional efforts to safeguard the health and well-being of our college community.”

President Olson pointed out that mandatory COVID-19 testing for all students and employees before returning to campus is one of the key steps in place to protect the health of the college community. Along with this, a number of safety measures across campus have been developed.

A Student Reopening Guide is being mailed out to all students and information on COVID-19 testing dates and other details for students and the final “wave” of employees returning to campus will be shared in the coming weeks.

“The pandemic is a fluid situation with ever changing conditions that will require us to continue to respond accordingly to federal and state guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as local health officials,” said President Olson. “The resiliency of our campus community and the meticulous planning for our return have made it possible for all of us to be together again.”
