The college’s paralegal degree is ranked No. 17, joining other prestigious institutions such as Ball State University, Loyola University Chicago, and St. John’s University. Daemen is one of three colleges in New York State named to the 2020 list.

“We are truly honored to be recognized for our strong paralegal studies program,” said Margaret Phillips, director and associate professor of paralegal studies. “Our paralegal students learn from some of the finest legal professionals in Western New York, including attorneys and judges, and greatly benefit from faculty mentoring, internships, and other experiential opportunities that we provide.”

Programs across the country were ranked based on cost, graduation rate, job placement rate, salary potential, and student reviews.

25 Best Bachelor's Paralegal ProgramsDaemen was praised for its American Bar Association approved paralegal studies program, which speaks to the degree’s curriculum and academic standards. The college was also noted for the faculty’s commitment to mentoring students and exceptional internships that provide real-world experience in the field.

Daemen’s Paralegal Studies Program offers a bachelor’s degree or an undergraduate certificate that includes a range of in-depth courses, internship options, and service learning opportunities.

The college is also the only institution in the Buffalo Niagara region to offer a post-baccalaureate certificate program. Open to students with a four-year degree, the 21-credit-hour certificate program, which can be completed in only one year, is designed for recent graduates or adults changing careers who want the knowledge and skills to get a job in the legal profession.

According to the U.S. Bureau for Labor Statistics, employment of paralegals and legal assistants is projected to grow 12 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations.

“At Daemen, we typically receive more requests from employers in the region in need of paralegals than we have graduates available,” said Phillips. “More than 95 percent of our graduates either obtain a job in the legal profession or go on to law school or graduate school.”
