Daemen College, a leader in health sciences education, has been ranked second on the “Five Best Colleges for Health Sciences and Services Majors in New York” list released by Zippia, an online resource for exploring career options.
Daemen’s No. 2 ranking places it as the top private college in the state and the only Buffalo Niagara institution on Zippia’s 2018 list. Other four-year institutions named to the top five list are Stony Brook University (No. 1), SUNY College at Brockport (No. 3), Touro College (No. 4), and Hofstra University (No. 5).
“We are proud to have Daemen recognized as a statewide leader in health sciences and to be ranked so highly among other prestigious colleges across New York State,” said Daemen President Gary Olson. “As our college continues to gain greater prominence, Daemen’s strengths in the health sciences and the rich academic experience that we provide are sought-after by students throughout the state and beyond.”
Rankings for the best health sciences and services colleges in New York are based on data from the National Center for Education Statistics and College Scorecard data from the U.S. Department of Education. Colleges that offer the best career opportunities in these majors were rated on career results, percentage of the graduating class that are health sciences and services majors, and school performance, including admissions and graduation rates, average cost of attendance, and median amount of student debt.
Daemen is known for its widely acclaimed health sciences programs in physical therapy, physician assistant studies, athletic training, health promotion, public health, and nursing, among others.
