Teenage filmmakers got to watch their talents play out on the big screen as part of the Rochester Teen Film Festival, and Daemen University once again sponsored the annual event.
The festival was held at the Little Theatre on Thursday, August 3, and featured the films of teens from Rochester, New York City, and as far away as Ireland.
“The Rochester Teen Film Festival was created to highlight the work of youth filmmakers in urban, suburban, and rural youth in the Greater Rochester area,” said Linda Moroney, the creator of the Rochester Teen Film Festival. “Over the years, it has expanded that footprint, thanks in part to the generous support of Daemen University.”
Students between the ages of 13 to 18 are urged to submit their work. All submissions are judged by a jury, and finalists have their films screened at the festival, where awards and cash prizes are awarded.
This is the third year Daemen has sponsored the film festival.
“I have found the festival to be an enlightening experience and an outlet for young artists to explore and share their creative talent. I am happy the institution can be involved in allowing youth filmmakers to share their artistry with the community,” added Isaac Williams, the director of multimedia and digital strategy at Daemen.
