President Shares Positive Outlook in Video Message

In a newly released video from Daemen College President Gary Olson, he praised faculty and staff for their strength, resiliency, and successes despite facing many challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Olson updated the campus community on the well-being of those in the Daemen family in Amherst and Brooklyn who have been impacted by the coronavirus, and credited the college’s comprehensive measures for keeping everyone as safe and healthy as possible during this time. Extolling high praise to Daemen nursing students who are working on the frontlines, he called them heroes in our community.

On a national and regional level, President Olson shared he is in regular contact with elected officials, including Congressman Brian Higgins, and higher education leaders across the country about combating the impact of this public health crisis on colleges. He also shared encouraging news about graduate enrollment and was optimistic about undergraduate numbers in the months ahead.

In closing, President Olson commended faculty and staff for their efforts to keep Daemen moving forward and to stay positive as the college continues to deal with the effects of the pandemic.
