The Daemen College Center for Allied and Unified Sport and Exercise (CAUSE) will hold several sport sampling sessions during the fall 2018 semester. All sessions, which are open to new and returning participants, will be held in the college’s Academic and Wellness Center at 4433 Main St., across the street from Daemen’s main campus.
The CAUSE program, which was co-founded by Daemen Athletics in close collaboration with the college’s Social Work and Special Education departments, was launched last fall with the objective of providing recreational and competitive athletic opportunities for persons with disabilities. Participants are exposed to a variety of sports to develop physical fitness, build confidence, and experience the camaraderie and sportsmanship that comes with athletics participation. The program is conducted by Daemen students, faculty, and staff.
Sport sampling sessions will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 23 and 30; Oct. 14, 21, and 28; Nov. 4, 11, and 18; and Dec. 2 and 9. The program will then resume in the spring semester.
Interested caregivers are asked to register participants at daemenwildcats.com/CAUSEregistration. Registration windows for the weekly sport sampling sessions are open each week from Monday through Thursday.
