Amanda Dickerman graduated from Daemen College in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and continued on at the college to receive a master’s degree in special education in 2010.
“Pursuing a career in education made it possible for me to attain my goal of helping young children reach their fullest potential,” she said.
Dickerman has worked at the Learning Care Group, a leader in early education and the second largest for-profit child care provider in North America, for more than 15 years after completing an internship at the organization. Her excellence in teaching was recognized when she was selected from among 150 nominees to be named the 2016 Teacher of the Year for the Northeast Region, an accolade for which she was nominated by LCG.
“I once received a coffee mug that read ‘life is about dreams, teachers make them come true.’ That has been my foundation for teaching,” said Dickerman. “Every child has the ability to learn. As educators, we need to do everything we can to reach every child and help them to achieve success.”
