Daemen College will hold its fifth annual Daemen Day in Amherst on Sept. 20, a special celebration to connect the college community with Main Street’s thriving business district.
Free trolley rides will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. up and down Main Street to offer the Daemen community a chance to visit, shop, and dine at many establishments in the Amherst and Williamsville business districts.
During the event, students, faculty, and staff with college ID will receive substantial discounts at businesses displaying Daemen Day in Amherst window signs. Maps showing participating businesses and discounts will be distributed at an on-campus Daemen Day booth or are available at daemen.edu/daemenday.
Willy the Wildcat, the college’s mascot, will participate in the celebration, which will also include a chance to win a Daemen goodies basket and a selfie scavenger hunt for faculty and staff.
Complimentary t-shirts will be distributed to the first 100 visitors at the on-campus trolley pick up near the back porch of the Wick Campus Center.
Daemen Day in Amherst is a part of many activities planned from Sept. 19 to 21 for Founders Celebration.
In addition to Daemen Day in Amherst, Founders Day events on Sept. 20 will include a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. for the Megan Racinowski Memorial, which is named in honor of a Daemen student who passed away last year. The dedication will be held at the Sabatino Reflective Garden, located outside of Alumni House.
Also on Friday, a student organization and community fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the Wick Campus Center, and a student TGIF tent party will start at 6 p.m. on the Wick North Lawn.
