Dr. Kurt Blankschaen joined Daemen College this fall as an assistant professor of philosophy. He is excited to start his first year at the college teaching courses in medical ethics and medical humanities. He previously taught courses in ethics, political philosophy, bioethics, and gender.
Prior to coming to Daemen, Blankschaen completed a master’s degree in philosophy at Arizona State University and taught in Phoenix before going on to earn a doctorate in philosophy at Boston University.
Blankschaen’s research focuses on applied philosophical issues in feminism and bioethics. He is mainly interested in how social identities affect the obligation to resist oppression and how members of marginalized communities access health care resources.
Outside of Daemen, Blankschaen likes to cook, travel, swim, and, since he is new to Buffalo, explore the city with his husband.
