During the Thanksgiving Day game between the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints, Daemen College will debut a new commercial.
The 30-second ad was filmed last month on campus and features current Daemen students.
Thanksgiving Day games are usually among the National Football League (NFL)’s highest-rated games each season. What’s more, the Bills draw one of the highest shares of local viewership in the country.
“This is an opportunity to show thousands of prospective students – and their families – why Daemen is such a special place,” said Emily Burns Perryman, vice president for institutional advancement at Daemen.
The spot will air in two of the state’s media markets: Buffalo, which is just outside the top-50 nationally and reaches eight counties in New York – Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, Wyoming – and two in Pennsylvania; in addition, the ad will air in and around Syracuse.
The commercial opens with the line: “Everybody needs a place to build their legacy…” and shows a Daemen student leaving her residence hall for the first day of classes. Students are shown in science labs, creating art, working with physical therapy patients and creating content at Wildcat Media & Entertainment.
The narration, provided by student Sam Martin, continues: “Daemen College is a place for creative problem solvers … who transform their world into the place they want it to become.”
The commercial was written, shot and edited entirely in-house by Daemen employees.
Dave Seifert, a marketing and digital media specialist at the college, served as director; Cam Garrity, a graphic designer at Daemen, produced the commercial.
The advert will also air before ESPN’s Monday Night Football on Dec. 6, when the Bills play the New England Patriots.
The CBS (WIVB) and CW (WNLO) affiliates – and four movie theaters in Rochester and Buffalo – will also show the ad throughout the winter.
