College to Host Film Series

Force Majuere” by Swedish writer-director Ruben Östlund will be featured in the next Daemen College Film Series event at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Wick Campus Center Alumni Lounge.

The 2014 film focuses on a family vacationing in the French Alps and are confronted with a devastating avalanche. Dr. Joy Hanna, assistant professor of psychological sciences, will provide commentary after the film screening.

Next month’s film at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 will be Robert Kenner’s “Merchants of Doubt,” which looks at pundits-for-hire who present themselves in the media as scientific authorities but spread confusion about public threats ranging from toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals to climate change. Faculty commentator will be Dr. Diane Ramos, associate professor of natural sciences.

The 2016-17 Daemen Film Series is being co-sponsored by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Office for Academic Affairs, and the Office of Student Activities.
