Amy (Stewart) Terpening received a bachelor’s degree in childhood and special education from Daemen College.
As a Daemen student, Terpening played soccer and served as team captain for three years. She says her success in college was “greatly influenced by the tight knit group of my fellow students and wonderful relationships with my professors.”
After completing her degree at Daemen, Terpening went on to get a master’s degree in childhood education from the University at Buffalo. During her first year at UB, her education was put on hold as she was the victim of a pedestrian hit and run crash, suffering a severe traumatic brain injury near Daemen’s campus in March 2009. Through hard work and determination, she was able to complete her master’s degree in 2011.
Terpening was married in 2013 and moved to Syracuse, N.Y., where she now resides. She is a special education teacher for second-grade students at Southside Academy Charter School.
