Student Award Winners Selected in Art Exhibit

Several Daemen College students have received top honors for their artwork on display in Daemen College’s annual Visual and Performing Arts Undergraduate Exhibition, which runs through March 31 in the Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Gallery in the Haberman Gacioch Arts Center.

The 2017 undergraduate exhibit features student work in a range of media, including painting, illustration, printmaking, and animation. This year’s award winners are:

First Honors:

  • Junior – Shelby Janczyk of Hamburg
  • Sophomore – Jacob DePoint of Rochester
  • Freshman – Noah Ost of Buffalo

Second Honors:

  • Junior – Jessica Mjoen of Silver Creek
  • Sophomore –  Samantha Doyle of Newfane
  • Freshman – Ashley Dusza of Alden

Floydie Award for Figure Drawing:

  • Alyssa Macidyn of East Syracuse, sophomore.

Sister Jeanne File Art History Award:

  • Chynna Desimone of West Seneca, junior.

Honorable Mentions were awarded to:

  • Juniors – Jack Fiorella of Fredonia, Vincent Marcellino of Worcester, Noah Miller of Williamson, and Danielle Romaneo of Cheektowaga.
  • Sophomores – Shomiah Miller of Buffalo and Alex Quinn of Williamsville.
  • Freshmen – John Gatto of Lewiston, Miles Miller of Springfield Gardens, and Rachel Jankowski of Buffalo.
