Daemen College’s Teacher Leadership Quality Partnership Program (TLQP) recently hosted an interactive leadership workshop for Buffalo Public School teachers on strategies to help boost engagement with students.

More than 20 teachers, principals and administrators from Buffalo Public Schools attended the on campus workshop, “Hands on Minds on Leadership Lab,” that took place on Feb. 28. The one-day event, which was offered through a partnership between Daemen’s Education Department and Buffalo Public Schools, covered strategies, planning and implementation to increase engagement with students in grades K-12 and at the college-level.

“Professional development programs like this offer teachers the opportunity to learn new skills that will impact classroom instruction and student learning for the better,” said Elizabeth Wright, associate dean of education.

Facilitators included Rebecca Zuch, TLQP English as a new language (ENL) coach; Maureen Tredo, TLQP third grade bilingual teacher; Erica Carr, math coach at Buffalo PS 3; and Dasha Colvin, ENL teacher.
