Daemen University alum, Michael Boland, PA-C, ‘23, ‘24, Natural Science/Physician Assistant, Physician Assistant M.S., was honored with the New York State Society of Physician Associates (NYSSPA) Emerging New PA Award.
This award, which will be presented during the NYSSPA CME Conference in October, recognizes a physician assistant who graduated within the last three years and exhibits exceptional professionalism, clinical performance, advocacy, and leadership potential.
“Receiving this award is an incredible honor and a meaningful reminder of the privilege we have as PAs to make a difference in the lives of our patients and communities,” said Boland. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to care for others and for everyone who has shaped my journey along the way.”
“Michael is a remarkable Daemen University PA graduate. He is not just academically gifted, but he is genuinely one of the most humble and caring people I have ever met,” said Cara Innus, associate professor and associate program director for didactic education. “He is widely respected, and has a passion for both learning and teaching medicine. He is focused on serving his patients with the highest quality of care. Michael is now an adjunct faculty member for the PA program and I am thrilled to call him my colleague. He serves as an outstanding role model for our PA students. He is most deserving of this NYSSPA award of distinction.”
Boland currently practices in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital. He is pursuing an advanced certification in Clinical Bioethics at the University of Rochester. He also serves as an adjunct professor of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology at Daemen University and an adjunct instructor of Infectious Disease at Nazareth University.
