Joe Gugliuzza joins the Marketing & Communications team at Daemen University as a new video producer. In this capacity, he is tasked with telling the many great stories of the institution. Let’s learn a little bit about the man behind the camera.
Before starting at Daemen, you spent the last several years working as a video producer at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. What is your favorite part of working on a college campus?
Getting to interact with students is what keeps me coming back to higher education. I am in a unique position where I am constantly talking to students and documenting their motivations, hopes, and dreams, while watching them succeed in their respective fields. Knowing that my videos play a role in recruiting students to a place where they grow as individuals, make friendships that will last a lifetime, discover career paths, and move onto dream jobs is very rewarding.
Working at a university also affords me the ability to continually hone in on my craft. Whether it’s working with new technology, finding new creative ways to tell meaningful stories, or simply flying my drone, I am constantly pushing myself to grow as a video producer.
There are a lot of exciting things underway at Daemen. What are you most looking forward to?
For me, I am just excited to be a part of recruiting students to campus. Being away from Buffalo for 12 years and now coming back, reminds me just how unique Buffalo and its suburbs are, and how lucky I am to call it home. Daemen is also home to a tremendously talented Marketing and Communications team. I am looking forward to working collaboratively alongside them to create some really fun and exciting content.
When you’re not behind the camera or editing, what are your favorite things to do?
Just be a husband, dad, and dog dad. Nothing gives me joy like my family and that includes our 9-year-old dog Tasker. I moved back to Buffalo so that we’d be closer to our loved ones and the joy on their faces this past month when they got to see the rest of our Buffalo family has been well worth it. When we aren’t traveling (nothing like a good winter vacation) you will find us locally – hiking, kayaking, swimming at the beach, at the playground, simply walking up and down the driveway, anything to be outside.
