Andrew Martinko, CEO and co-founder of startup company Suncayr, winner of last year’s 43North competition, will be the featured speaker at Daemen College’s Nancy Haberman Gacioch Entrepreneurship Lecture Series event taking place on Feb. 28.
The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 5:30 p.m. in Daemen’s Wick Campus Center Alumni Lounge.
Founded in 2014 in Ontario, Suncayr has developed SPOT, a smart UV-responsive sticker that changes color to show a sunscreen user when their sunscreen is no longer protecting them.
Martinko will discuss the inspiration behind Suncayr, strategies in overcoming challenges as a young entrepreneur, and finding solutions in product development. He has been involved in all aspects of the company, including business strategy, product development, intellectual property development, partnerships, and sales.
The Nancy Haberman Gacioch Entrepreneurship Lecture Series, which is sponsored by the Daemen Entrepreneurship Program, features speakers who recognize the potential that exists in the region through development, revitalization efforts, new programming, job creation, or collaborative endeavors.
