Daemen College’s 49th annual All High Exhibition featuring a range of artwork created by high school juniors and seniors from across Western New York and surrounding areas will open with a reception being held at 1 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Elizabeth C. Tower Gallery in the Haberman Gacioch Art Center.
An awards ceremony for the juried competition will take place at the start of the opening reception being hosted by the Daemen Visual and Performing Arts Department. Daemen scholarships totaling more than $30,000 will be presented for entries selected as Best in Show, Illustration, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, Print, New Media, and Three-Dimensional Work, and honorable mentions. Student winners will also receive cash awards courtesy of the college and the Buffalo Society of Artists.
The All High Exhibition also gives Daemen seniors majoring in graphic design the opportunity to collaborate as a team to create a campaign and branding concept for the annual event. Using an advertising agency model, Daemen serves as the client with information provided to students on marketing goals for the exhibition, target audiences, and other details. The team then develops a campaign for the event that includes a branding concept, budget, promotional materials, and vendors.
“This semester-long project gives our students the opportunity to gain industry experience and to build skills such as project management and collaborating as a team that will be very beneficial to them in their careers,” said Christian Brandjes, director of the Visual and Performing Arts Department. “To create this campaign, students used their talents in a number of ways and produced work that will reach a wide audience.”
The All High Exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will be on display through Feb. 23 in the Tower Gallery, located on the first floor of the arts center. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
