Elizabeth Ivers, ’70, recipient of the 2017 Distinguished Alumna Award and a long-time supporter of the college, credits Daemen with having a great impact on her life, which inspired her to give back to her alma mater.
“My college years at Daemen helped to shape my life and to become the person I am today,” said Ivers. “Giving to the college over the years has enabled me to contribute to Daemen continuing its mission to prepare students for life and leadership in an increasingly complex world.”
Every gift matters, regardless of size. It will help to create opportunities and experiences that make the difference in the lives of Daemen students like Lumesh Kumar, who completed his practicum for the master of public health degree at Rakai Health Sciences Program in Uganda.
“Receiving the Sabatino Scholarship made it possible for me to participate in this once in a lifetime study abroad experience where I had the opportunity to work on a health promotion campaign that had a positive impact on the lives of many Ugandan men, women, and children,” said Kumar. “I also used had the chance to gain real-life experience using what I have learned in the classroom and to learn about a new culture.”
