One of five private institutions in the Buffalo Niagara region named to the list, Daemen is also ranked in the top 25 of small private colleges in New York State.

“We are proud to have Daemen recognized as one of the best colleges in the country, a distinction that signifies our growing national prominence in higher education,” said Daemen President Gary Olson. “This prestigious ranking is a reflection of the excellence of our programs and the high caliber of our faculty and staff who are committed to the academic and career success of our students.”

According to Money magazine, the list is drawn from “the research and advice of dozens of the nation’s top experts on education quality, financing, and value to develop a uniquely practical analysis of more than 700 of the nation’s best performing colleges.”

The 2018-19 “Best Colleges in America” list is based on 26 measures in the areas of quality of education, affordability, and outcomes. Data on selected colleges, which must have at least 500 students to be ranked, was compiled from the U.S. Department of Education, Peterson’s guide to colleges, and PayScale.com.

Among private colleges in New York State, Daemen is listed as one of the most affordable, earning a No. 4 ranking based on the estimated cost without aid and No. 5 with average grants factored into cost of attendance.

This new ranking is one of other recent designations Daemen has received, including being named a College of Distinction with program-specific recognition in business, education, and nursing; selected by Victory Media as a Military Friendly School; and named by Best Value Schools as one of the “50 Best Value Colleges and Universities in New York.”
