Two faculty members from Daemen University’s Alfiero School of Business—Tito Rodriguez, department chair and assistant professor, and Steve Chasey, assistant professor of sport management, business administration, and MBA—recently presented at the International Accreditation Council for Business Education’s (IACBE) Annual Conference and Assembly Meeting in Salt Lake City.

Rodriquez and Chasey presented “Beyond Borders, Within Reach: How Industry Trips Expand Learning at Small Business Schools,” which included a practical model for structured industry immersion trips—ranging from local company visits to short day trips—that create high-impact, student-centered learning experiences at minimal cost, as well as strategies for designing trips, building industry partnerships, aligning activities with learning outcomes, and assessing student engagement and career-readiness impacts.

“It was truly rewarding to engage with colleagues from peer institutions at the IACBE Annual Conference and share the innovative ways our campus is enhancing the student learning experience,” said Chasey. “Opportunities like this not only allow us to showcase our work, but also to learn from others who are equally committed to continuous improvement in business education. I am proud to serve as the Middle States Regional President, a role that allows me to further support the IACBE’s mission of promoting excellence, accountability, and outcomes-based education within business programs. The annual conference serves as a vital platform for collaboration, professional development, and the exchange of best practices that ultimately benefit our students and institutions alike.”

Chasey currently serves as president of the IACBE’s Region 2: Middle States Regional Conference and Rodriguez serves as treasurer.
