New Campus Food Pantry Opens

By | April 10, 2017

Food PantryDaemen College has established a new small campus food pantry for students facing food insecurity or in need of emergency food assistance.

Named the Villaticum Cupboard (villaticum is Latin for village), the newly created food pantry is open from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays in Duns Scotus Room 34.

“The pantry is intended to help meet the immediate needs of students who are experiencing food hardship by providing them non-perishable foods so they don’t go hungry,” said Adriane Williams, associate director of academic advisement, who is overseeing the pantry. “As a welcoming and supportive campus, we are grateful for every donation that makes this vital aid available to our students.”

Donations of non-perishable food items or monetary donations may be dropped off at the Villaticum Cupboard during hours of operation or in the Research and Information Commons Room 110. To assist the pantry, a number of items were recently donated as part of a school club project organized by Ryan Pagano, son of Daemen staff members Jeff and Kim Pagano.

Daemen students seeking food assistance or to refer a student in need may contact the pantry at villaticum@daemen.edu.
