Daemen Joins Global #GivingTuesday Celebration of Philanthropy

By | November 16, 2021

Daemen will launch a campaign to unite the college’s community on #GivingTuesday, a global movement to encourage philanthropy, on Nov. 30.

The 2021 goal is to top the 100 donations given last year.

“While we’re competing with the rest of the world on #GivingTuesday, we know how supportive the Daemen community can be when we join together,” said Kara Kane, director of annual giving and stewardship.

“We’d love to surpass our goal and demonstrate the positive impact the college has made in the lives of so many,” Kane added. “Every gift matters, no gift is too small, and each donor directly supports students and the future of the college.”

Donors can designate contributions to particular causes at the college, including to funds that support scholarships or athletics, invest in new technology and the development of new academic programs, and provide research opportunities for students and faculty.

This year’s campaign will feature alums providing testimonies about why they’re supporting Daemen on #GivingTuesday.

For instance, McKenzie Higgins ’09 shared: “A Daemen education opened doors and provided me with opportunities that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. I give to pay that forward.”

She added, “I am the best version of myself because of Daemen, and I want future generations of students to have that opportunity to grow, learn, and become a best version of themselves.”

Those who cannot donate are asked to consider sharing the college’s giving page on social media and with family and friends.

“Many of us chose Daemen College for the small personal, warm atmosphere that felt like home,” said Amy B. Miechowicz ’89, in support of the campaign. “We now have the opportunity to give back to help others experience that same amazing education and support.”

The Dec. 8 issue of the Voice will provide a recounting of the results.
