College’s Health Care Heroes to be Honored

By | May 1, 2020

Daemen College has launched a Health Care Heroes initiative to recognize graduates and students for their efforts and bravery in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the Buffalo Niagara region and throughout the country.

“Health care professionals are facing extraordinary challenges with great courage and dedication as we risk our own health and safety to ensure patients are receiving the highest quality care during this crisis,” said Jaclyn Szeluga ’15, a nursing graduate. “We are so grateful to Daemen for creating Health Care Heroes to celebrate and support all we are doing for the community during this time.”

Health care graduates and students are invited to share their experiences from working during the coronavirus pandemic via an online submission form available on the Daemen COVID-19 website. Graduates are encouraged to include photos or video as part of their submissions.

“The greatest lessons the pandemic has taught me as a nurse is that it is absolutely vital to stick together and that we must check in on and look out for one another,” said nursing graduate Amanda Peister ’16. “There is a light at the end of this very long tunnel. Daemen’s Health Care Heroes will be a positive place for us to reflect on the real impact of our work.”

In gratitude and support of the extraordinary efforts of Daemen’s graduates and students, selected Health Care Heroes submissions will be highlighted in the college’s communications and marketing sources.
