Nearly 400 entrepreneurs and small business owners attended a kick-off event on Jan. 25 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center for Straight Talk 2020, a small business education program being held at Daemen College.
Presented by SCORE Buffalo Niagara and the U.S. Small Business Association, the eight-week Straight Talk seminar series will be held from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from Feb. 4 through March 24 in Daemen’s Schenck Hall Room 107 at 4380 Main St., Amherst.
This marks the first time the program is being hosted on Daemen’s campus as a collaborative effort through the college’s Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation, and Business Administration departments.
“We are excited to enter into a new partnership with SCORE and our region’s Small Business Administration to host Straight Talk, a world-class program for small business owners and aspiring and current entrepreneurs,” said Elizabeth Wright, Daemen dean of health and human services. “Opening our campus to the Buffalo Niagara business community through this innovative lecture series will be a great opportunity for area business owners to experience our college.”
The Straight Talk program will cover a range of topics, including business plans, certifications, small business loans, social media marketing, permits and taxes, home-based businesses, and building business relationships. Small business owners will also share their success stories and provide advice on achieving business success.
