Daemen College has launched several new major initiatives designed to strengthen its enrollment management operations and services, including the appointment of two leadership positions that are at the forefront of student recruitment and admissions.
Julie Zulewski
Julie Zulewski has been named to the newly created role of dean of enrollment, and Austin Brass will serve as director of undergraduate admissions. The appointments are effective this month.
“Having a strong enrollment management team in place is essential to the ongoing development of our recruitment and admissions operations,” said Daemen President Gary Olson. “Both Julie and Austin will bring extensive experience and insight to their roles, and we are excited to have them join our Daemen community.”
Frank Williams, vice president for enrollment management, noted, “These two positions are instrumental to other improvements that are underway to refine our enrollment management strategies that will strengthen our overall admissions process and student recruitment efforts. We are confident that the high level of expertise and talents that Julie and Austin will bring to Daemen will lead to great success in promoting Daemen’s high quality programs to prospective students.”
The college’s new enrollment initiatives are focused on greater collaboration with the Office of Academic Affairs to develop new innovative programs and partnerships; enhancing recruitment, services, and partnerships for student veterans, including Daemen’s new educational partnership with SUNY Erie Community College; expanding the college’s enrollment footprint into more out-of-state markets; and improving processes and efficiencies to enhance the prospective student experience.
As dean of enrollment, Zulewski will oversee new student engagement and enrollment initiatives, and lead international, transfer, and graduate admissions and recruitment efforts.
She most recently served as director of graduate enrollment and corporate engagement at Canisius College, where she previously worked as director of graduate admissions and associate director of employer relations and career development.
Zulewski earned a master’s degree in early childhood/elementary education from the University at Buffalo and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from SUNY Buffalo State.
She resides in Snyder.
Austin Brass
In the role of director of undergraduate admissions, Brass will be responsible for undergraduate recruitment strategies and targeted recruitment efforts, and will manage admissions counselors.
He comes to Daemen from Utica College, where he served as associate director of admissions recruitment and strategy. He started his career in higher education as an admissions counselor at Daemen and went on to serve as assistant director of high ability recruitment at Appalachian State University.
A native of Williamsville, Brass received a master’s degree in social studies secondary education from Canisius and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from Appalachian State.
