Daemen College President Gary Olson and several college board members have been named to the 2018 Buffalo Business First Power 250, an annual ranking of the most influential people in the Buffalo Niagara region.
“We congratulate President Olson on being selected for this year’s Power 250 list and applaud his dedication to Daemen College,” said Dr. Thomas Stewart, chair of the Daemen Board of Trustees. “His leadership and advocacy for higher education has been exemplary regionally and nationally.”
Olson is listed number 134 on this year’s roster, which ranks the most powerful people in the region’s eight counties. Area leaders from a wide range of organizations and industries are included on the list.
This year’s Power 250 includes several members of the Daemen Board of Trustees and Community Advisory Board. College trustees named to the list are David Anderson, Gary M. Bichler, Arthur G. Wingerter, and John R. Yurtchuk. Advisory board members included on the list are Scott Bieler, Donald K. Bosell, Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown, Matthew K. Enstice, Congressman Brian Higgins, Candace Johnson, Assemblymember Crystal People-Stokes, Thomas Quatroche, Jr., and Rocco R. Termini.
The Power 250 is limited to individuals who live and work in Western New York and “wield the most clout in the eight-county region.” Business First reporters and editors nominated individuals for the list, and rankings are based on extensive research and in-house discussions.
“Influence means different things to different people, but most of us will agree to this – we know power and influence when we see it. In the end, we came up with 250 power brokers for this list,” said Donna Collins, managing editor at Business First.
