Daemen University’s Visual and Performing Arts department has been awarded a $10,000 New Era Cap Foundation grant.
The grant will support Daemen’s two-week summer graphic design production program for 15–18-year-old high school students. In addition to funding supplies, the grant will also cover program-related fees for students with high financial need.
Students will learn design foundations, ideation techniques, and software skills necessary for developing branded assets. They will also learn critical production techniques for printing apparel merchandise designs for a brand of their own creation.
Upon program completion, students will exhibit their work to family and friends in the Nancy Haberman Gacioch Center for Visual & Performing Arts Tower Gallery to celebrate their accomplishments.

“Daemen University, like New Era, is committed to strengthening the Buffalo community by fostering its next generation of creatives,” said Noah Herman, visiting assistant professor of graphic design. “Like New Era, we also believe that impact thrives when people unite; when leaders of industry work closely with institutions dedicated to developing locally minded, nationally competitive talent. This program begins developing that talent when young adults are forming their
professional ambitions, capturing their imagination, before they’re discouraged from the arts. It will not only plant the seed of inspiration but also develop work that will make future college portfolio submissions shine.”
Registration for the summer graphic design production program will begin in the spring.
