Kathryn Hammer, director of alumni relations at Daemen College, has received a 2016 Community Service Award from the Buffalo Urban League Young Professionals (BULYP) organization. She was among seven award recipients honored at BULYP’s fourth annual Queen City Soiree event.
Hammer was recognized for her service work with Daemen’s graduates and students, and for her efforts with BULYP, Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, Buffalo Garden Walk, and the YMCA Turkey Trot.
“It is truly an honor to receive the Community Service Award, and I greatly appreciate being nominated by Daemen alumna Stephanie Foreman, founder of the Buffalo Urban League Young Professionals,” said Hammer, who has served as Daemen’s director of alumni relations since 2013.
As part of her director role at the college, Hammer oversees and is moderator of the Daemen Student Alumni Ambassadors, a role for which she was honored this year as an Outstanding Adviser by the Council for Advancement of Education Affiliated Student Advancement Programs (CASE ASAP) District II.
She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Western New York Chapter, Buffalo’s Young Preservationists, and the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart Reunion Committee.
Hammer received a bachelor of fine arts in painting from Daemen and a master’s degree in college student personnel administration from Canisius College.
She resides in Lancaster.
