LINCOLN, PA. – Goals, goals and more goals.

Led by a seven-point performance (three goals, assist) from Tatyjana Scalisi (Williamsville, N.Y.) and a hat trick from Faye Panagopoulos (Kenmore, N.Y.), the Wildcats recorded their second straight win with a 9-0 victory over Lincoln (Pa.) in a contest held at Lincoln University Stadium.

With the win today, Daemen women's soccer improved to 3-3-0 and 2-0-0 in East Coast Conference play while Lincoln drops to 0-5-0 overall (0-2-0 ECC.)

HIGHLIGHTS
  • In the ninth minute, Scalisi recorded her first goal of the day off a pass from freshman defender Alyssa Diaz (Rochester, N.Y.) to give Daemen the early 1-0 lead. Then, in the 15th minute, senior midfielder Grace Stranahan (Grand Island, N.Y.) connected off a pass from sophomore midfielder Madita Zeitz (Malsch, Germany) to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. The scoring continued three minutes later, in the 18th minute, when Scalisi recorded her second goal off another assist from Diaz giving Daemen a three-goal advantage. Scalisi then completed her hat trick in the 21st minute with an unassisted goal to give Daemen a 4-0 lead. Shortly thereafter, Panagopoulos found herself on the scoresheet as Scalisi set her up for the opportunity for a 5-0 lead. Panagopoulos then scored unassisted in the 32nd minute. Freshman midfielder Lily Williams (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) then recorded the first goal of her Daemen career to make the score, 7-0.
  • The Wildcats recorded two more goals in the second half, with Panagopoulos continuing the scoring spree in the 59th minute, with another unassisted goal, to give Daemen an 8-0 lead. Diaz then rounded out the scoring in the 66th minute with an unassisted goal to give Daemen the 9-0 lead.

GAME NOTES
  • Today was Daemen's second win and shutout of the season, including their 1-0 victory versus Mercyhurst on Sept. 11, 2021. This was also their third overall shutout as a program dating back to a 5-0 victory versus D'Youville on April 17, 2021. This contest against the Saints was eventually the final contest completed in Spring of 2021 after the season finale versus Roberts Wesleyan on May 2 was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.
  • Today was the fourth all-time meeting between Daemen and Lincoln (Pa.) and their first since the Wildcats defeated the Lions, 7-0, on Nov. 2, 2019 in a contest held in Williamsville, N.Y. Daemen leads the all-time series, 4-0, with three of those wins coming in the Keystone State.
  • Scalisi's seven-point outing in the victory establishes a new career-high in her Daemen career. The forward recorded one goal and two assists (four points overall) in Daemen's 3-1 victory over D'Youville  on Sept. 18, 2021.
  • With their three-goal performances, Scalisi and Panagopoulos are now tied for the team lead in goals with four tallies each in 2021. Scalisi leads the team in overall points (11) with Panagopoulos in second (9.)
  • By scoring in the 15th minute, Stranahan recorded her ninth career goal and her second of the season. With one more goal, Stranahan will become only the third player to have competed during Daemen's NCAA Division II era (2015 – present) to score at least 10 career goals (Meghan Lipinoga, 10; Jamie Boyar, 55). Stranahan had netted a career-high six goals and totaled 17 points during the 2019 season.
  • Pangopoulos now has six career goals while wearing the blue-and-white. The forward now joins current teammates Brooke Amato (Grand Island, N.Y.), Sam Hanes (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) and Grace Stranahan (Grand Island, N.Y.) to score at least five goals during their time at Daemen.
  • Today marked the first time Diaz scored in a contest since Daemen's 3-1 loss at Goldey-Beacom on Sept. 4, 2021. She also finished with two assists (four points total) in the victory.
  • Daemen returns 17 players who were on the roster for the unorthodox 2020-21 academic year, including 10 who were part of the Wildcats' NCAA tournament team in 2019 when they finished 11-4-3 – the best season in the program's NCAA era (2015 – present.)
  • This marked the sixth of a traditional 16-game schedule which runs through November 6.
