Daemen College’s Accounting Program has earned accreditation from the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), making it one of only five colleges in the country to hold this new specialized accreditation.
The five-year accreditation follows a rigorous self-evaluation that demonstrated Daemen’s accounting program meets the high standards established by the IACBE, an on-site visit that included an independent peer review, and a review by the IACBE Board of Commissioners.
“This prestigious new accreditation is a testament to the excellence of our accounting program at the national and international level,” said Dr. Sharlene Buszka, chairperson of accounting, business administration, and paralegal studies. “As an accredited IACBE institution, it reaffirms the strength and quality of the accounting education our dedicated faculty provide our students.”
Daemen has received accreditation for its bachelor’s degree in accounting and dual bachelor’s degree in accounting/master’s degree in professional accountancy. Among the first institutions in the country to earn this program distinction, the college was involved in the early stages of the accreditation’s development.
“Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Michele Flint and Dr. Linda Kuechler, our participation in the process for this specialized accreditation gave us the unique opportunity to offer input that contributed to establishing this new accounting program credential,” said Buszka. “This accreditation is an important step in bringing greater attention to student learning to build the advance skills required in accounting professionals.”
As noted by the IACBE, “specialized program accreditation by the IACBE is a means by which students, parents, the business community, and other stakeholders of the institution can be assured that the academic business unit complies with high principles of excellence and follows best practices in business education.” Accreditation of Daemen’s accounting program also demonstrates its commitment to continuous improvement and advancing academic quality.
The accounting accreditation is one of other IACBE accredited undergraduate and graduate programs in the Daemen Business Administration Department, including a bachelor’s degree in business administration, master’s degree in international business, and a dual bachelor’s degree in business administration/master’s degree in international business.
The IACBE promotes and recognizes excellence in business education at undergraduate and graduate levels through specialized accreditation of business programs at institutions worldwide. It is the leading outcomes-based professional accreditation agency for business and management education in colleges and universities whose primary purpose is excellence in teaching and learning.
The organization has hundreds of member institutions and campuses worldwide, and has accredited more than 1,300 business and business-related programs in the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Central America, and South America.
