AMHERST, N.Y. -- Maggie Burns (Louisville, Ky.) and Jasmine Brundage (East Aurora, N.Y.) of Daemen University have both been selected for East Coast Conference weekly women's volleyball awards, the league announced today. Burns has been named the ECC Player of the Week, while Brundage was picked as the ECC Defensive Player of the Week for matches played September 5-11. Both Burns and Brundage played pivotal roles in helping the Wildcats to a 4-1 record in the week, complete with three sweeps.

Burns, a 5-9 senior outside hitter, picks up her second career ECC Player of the Week award after starting in four of the Wildcats' five matches in which she totaled 44 kills (2.93 kills/set) on a .571 hitting percentage last week. She added 53 digs (3.53 digs/set), three service aces, and four blocks. Burns earned a double-double (kills and digs) in matches against Saint Anselm, American International and Bentley, and was named to the All-Tournament Team for the second straight weekend.

Burns posted a .375 hitting percentage in the Wildcats' sweep of Bentley in the finale of the East Region Clash on Saturday, notching 10 kills and just one error. She put down a season-high 14 kills in Friday's 3-2 loss to AIC. Burns has tallied double-digit kills in four of the six matches she's played in so far this season.

This is Burns' first ECC Player of the Week nod since October 4, 2021.

A 5-5 junior libero, Brundage earns her seventh ECC Defensive Player of the Week, and first of the year. She played in all five of Daemen's matches last week, totaling 72 digs to average 4.0 digs per set. She added six aces, 15 assists, and four kills on the week. Brundage shined in the East Region Clash opener against Saint Anselm in which she tallied a season-high 23 digs, averaging 5.75 digs/set. She was named the All-Tournament Team libero this past weekend.

Brundage, the 2021 ECC Libero of the Year, currently ranks third in the conference with 4.09 digs per set on the season, trailing Mercy's Selma Vulic with 4.64, and Queens' Ryann Frontera who leads the league with 4.94.

The 5-2 Wildcats travel to West Virginia this weekend. Daemen will face Fairmont State on Friday (Sept. 16) at 5 p.m., and on Saturday (Sept. 17) will play at West Liberty at 2 p.m.
